Agent-native long-context memory and retrieval substrate for multi-turn autonomous workflows

A purpose-built stateful memory engine that distinguishes between ephemeral RAG (retrieval-augmented generation for one-shot lookups) and durable agent memory (decision history, outcome tracking, and learned preferences across long multi-agent runs), exposing a deterministic, queryable ledger of agent decisions and interactions that agents can reason over and other agents can audit.

The problem

Autonomous agents running multi-turn workflows today either lose decision context mid-execution (relying on stateless RAG), rebuild context expensively on every turn (token-heavy re-prompting), or dump unstructured logs into generic observability tools that cannot distinguish causality from correlation. When agent A delegates to agent B, or when a run resumes after failure, there is no standard way to reconstruct the decision graph, learned constraints, or outcome feedback. Teams cannot audit why an agent chose action X, what it learned from failure Y, or whether it should be trusted to repeat similar decisions.

Who has it: Series-B and C AI infrastructure companies and enterprises deploying agent teams (3+ concurrent agents on recurring workflows) where multi-turn runs routinely exceed 10 steps, agent handoffs occur, and audit/compliance requires decision justification.

Why now: Multi-agent workflows and long-horizon agentic loops are moving from research into production (Anthropic Claude loop examples, multi-turn tool-use patterns in GPT-4o deployments). Observability for deterministic systems (Datadog, New Relic) and workflow orchestration for humans (Temporal, Airflow) are mature, but neither natively models agent-specific state: learned preferences, decision justifications, or confidence scores that evolve across runs. Vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate) solve semantic search for documents but not structured decision provenance or agent-to-agent trust verification.
