Real-time audio-sync and beat-locked video segmentation engine for VJ and live-performance creators
A purpose-built runtime that ingests long-form video and audio tracks, locks segment cuts to precise BPM and audio onset detection, and outputs frame-accurate reverse/forward playback clips for live VJ mixing and glitch-art performance without manual timeline scrubbing.
The problem
VJ and glitch-art creators currently spend 5+ hours manually cutting long-form video (5+ hours of source material) in iMovie or Premiere, aligning each segment to audio beats using audio files as a proxy for timing, then reverse-playing segments for performance. The manual process has no programmability, no batch-segmentation API, and no real-time sync verification.
Who has it: Independent and semi-professional VJ and glitch-art creators (solo operators and small collectives) performing at clubs, festivals, and streaming events who source 5–20 hours of raw video per performance and need sub-second BPM-locked segmentation.
Why now: GPU-accelerated audio onset detection and beat-tracking libraries (librosa, madmom, ONNX-based models) are now commodity; live-performance creators are increasingly using agent-driven workflows and API-based content pipelines rather than GUI-bound video editors; and low-latency video segmentation runtimes (FFmpeg-based) are parallelizable.
